Welcome
Randomix is an event bringing an insight into the world of European underground culture to Prague. There will be 4 days for:
- visual arts
- interactive multimedia installations
- underground films
- cutting edge music
Kultura Jinak are proud to present work from a large collective of artists, connected to the free party underground and representing a new kind of independent creativity.s
Randomix will host Random Artists, who are best known for their reclaimed urban art gallery project "Temporary Autonomous Art" or T.A.A. These gallery spaces are self-managed squats, empty buildings reused to provide communities with free galleries. These temporary autonomous spaces are open access, which means anyone can show their creative work to the general public without the limitations of commercial galleries. The T.A.A. exhibition idea has been so successful that it is now spreading across England and the rest of Europe.
With the growth of the T.A.A. exhibitions Random Artists now consists of a large community of people, living all over Europe creating independent art. Randomix will feature work from artists based in England, Holland, France and of course the Czech Republic. The exhibition in Trafacka will create a space open for 4 days where you can experience the unique feeling of a space transformed by people only interested in creativity. This will be a rare opportunity to see what the originators of the T.A.A. art movement create.
Art and Installations
Randomix will transform this large industrial space into a gallery, run by artists for artists. With so many contributions it is difficult to list everything that you can expect to see. However some highlights to look out for include:
MicroTAA: To recreate a full T.A.A. in Prague seemed like the best way to continue the spread of this cultural meme/phenomenon. So Random Artists invited all of those in the international collective to contribute pieces of art to be shown in Prague. This will be an exclusive opportunity to see some of the newest creations from over 20 contributors in the Czech Republic for the first time.
Interactive Multi-Media Installations: The exhibition will feature 2 rooms of interactive installations, with work from Random Artists and Pitchless. These pieces bring together members of Random Artists who work with many types of media, sound, visual arts and light. Rather than being a passive gallery viewer you will be able to control elements of the installation. Those who have seen these artists at our previous exhibitions will tell you to expect the unexpected; strange sounds and unsettling pictures creating an atmosphere that reflects our modern era.
Film Day
Randomix will be running a special film day on the 1st of April, hosted by The Projection Gallery, which is an independent film library. The day will feature films being premiered in the Czech Republic, created by independent film makers from all over the world. The film day will showcase films and art of the highest quality, bringing new works of international standing to the Randomix audience. The programme will feature first screenings of short films, animations, and documentaries, alongside experimental broadcasts, anti-adverts and beyond.
